In his spare time, Al enjoys camping and spending time with family.
Dawson Buist, Assembly Technician

In his role at Donald Engineering, Dawson works hard to ensure maximum quality, functionality, and reliability for our customers. With a keen eye and attention to detail, he assists in building and thoroughly testing units to ensure they hold up to DECI’s standards and will serve our customers well. After graduating high school, Dawson is interested in pursuing a degree in computer science.
Doug Haveman, Inside Sales & Technical Support
Since he was young, Doug has always had a curiosity for how things are built and operate. As a child, he would take toys apart to see what was inside; some made it back together, others did not. His long-running history of figuring out how things work combined with experience in mechanical equipment repair, construction, plumbing, electrical and customer service, all benefit our customers here at Donald Engineering. Doug processes customer orders, sources products from vendors, and determines shipping methods that most quickly expedite product deliveries. He also has experience with assemblies and repairing valves, cylinders, and pumps. After work, Doug enjoys spending time with his wife and son and always looks forward to the tradition of using his smoker to cook dinner on Fathers Day.
Jeff Eminger, Lead Electrical Engineer

Jeff comes to Donald with more than three decades of industry experience. He has a strong history in sizing, commissioning, and application and has focused more specifically on servo motors and motion control throughout his career. Jeff uses his expertise in electrical engineering and motion control to equip customers with solutions that solve their problems and meet their needs. He works hard to ensure that others can be the best they can be in their work. When he’s not designing comprehensive solutions for customers, Jeff enjoys biking with his wife and spending time with his daughters and their families.
John Adams, Technical Service Coordinator

With a background of working as a machinist, machine builder, fabricator, and welder, John’s rich history of hands-on experience with equipment enables him to understand users’ experiences with products, machines, and service needs. In his work, he strives to provide consistency of through-put order from repair to shipment for all of our customers.

With over two decades of experience here at Donald Engineering in purchasing, sales, technical help, expediting, inventory control, and shipping and receiving, John takes pride in his work and gets satisfaction from ensuring that our customers’ jobs are completed efficiently and effectively. His goal is to provide a great experience in both process and outcome for our customers. Away from the office, John and his wife enjoy working around their hobby farm, tending to their 10 acres and caring for their dog, cat, and 2 horses. He dreams of one day adding a few holes of golf to his property.
Ken Jewell, Technical Sales
Ken has a background in pneumatic schematics, mobile hydraulics, and complete automation. He strives to help customers lower their overall cost of investment through problem analysis and the provision of products and process solutions that help them succeed in their work. This personalized approach to providing customers with unique and individualized solutions challenges and inspires Ken in his work here at Donald Engineering. In his spare time, Ken enjoys repairing engines and working on special kinds of equipment.
Kyle Harkema, Assembly Technician
As an assembly technician here at Donald Engineering, Kyle works hard to make sure that orders are completed correctly and on time. He understands that accuracy and attention to detail are critical for our customers to able to work to their best of their abilities. Kyle pays careful attention to customers wants and needs and does whatever he can to ensure ultimate satisfaction with Donald’s products and services.
Mark Gauthier, President

As a child, Mark with his dad in their basement building boats, furniture, and of course, air logic circuits. This instilled in him a curiosity for the relationship between cause and effect that later translated to a passion for automation and manufacturing. Mark’s parents founded Donald Engineering and he strives to carry on the family business tradition. His passion for this industry includes working with local schools and universities to spread the knowledge of fluid power and automation. He’s also worked with Michigan Tech to develop scholarships for local students in order to provide them with the opportunity to grow and explore the world of engineering. Away from work, Mark is a boat fanatic. Getting the itch from his father, Mark has rebuilt, reconstructed, updated, and even built a number of boats over the years. He says working on boats is almost as fun and satisfying as running them. Mark, his wife, and their dog Mike enjoy running down the lake when weather and projects are under control.

Michael currently serves customers from Petoskey to Northern Grand Rapids where he currently calls home. He places a priority on building relationships and helping others, and having fun every day while doing so.

In his role at Donald Engineering, he wears many hats, working in inside sales, providing technical assistance, and acting as a project coordinator. Richard’s history in the business and wealth of experience enables him to provide unmatched service and positive outcomes for our customers.

Bryan came to Donald Engineering with experience in project management, sales, and estimating. Here at Donald Engineering, he works with customers to provide individualized solutions for their particular challenges using products, vendors, tools, and processes strategically to achieve their desired results. He assists customers with challenges related to new project conceptualization, design, and implementation and also provides consultation and support for existing products and processes. It is Bryan’s goal to learn as much as he can about our customers' needs in order to provide the most effective solutions for them, whether that involves collaborating with vendors to expedite products needed for urgent repairs, selecting stock products that save them time, providing direct technical assistance, or customizing a solution to an urgent or unique problem using our available tools. After hours you can often find Bryan playing softball or coaching some of his three kids' sports teams.

He came to Donald Engineering with over two decades of experience in the fluid power industry that included extensive experience in distribution, supplying customers with multiple product lines and technical applications. Don provides technical sales engineering service and support to customers in southeastern Michigan, working with them to create unique solutions for their technical problems. The variety of challenges and applications that our products and expertise address helps our customers succeed and perform efficiently and effectively.
Jeff TenBrink, Technical Sales Representative/SW Michigan
Jeff came to Donald Engineering with sales experience in international produce and commercial insurance, the latter of which introduced him to the real costs associated with workplace injuries and helped him to appreciate the importance of total machine safety and the role that plays in providing solutions that lower total costs of ownership for our customers. A tinkerer at heart with an insatiable desire to understand how things work, Jeff is committed to conducting business with integrity at all times and is motivated to provide the best solutions for our customers. As your strategic partner, Jeff will provide you with solutions in fluid power engineering, automation, and safety, that will help you succeed in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. An avid golfer, in his spare time you’ll find Jeff on the golf course, woodworking in his woodshop, tinkering with household projects, or spending time with friends and family.

Jim’s background in audio and recording, automotive, and construction accompanies his curiosity for how things work as well as his ability to retain seemingly unrelated pieces of information, of which he’s collected many after twenty-five years in the industry. Solving puzzles, helping others, educating customers to be self-sufficient, and seeing things run and perform better than industry standards motivates Jim in his work here at Donald Engineering, as well as seeing our customers excel when utilizing our niche products to get their application performing beyond their expectations. Jim and his wife enjoy time spent with his four kids and their spouses. He’s passionate about nonprofit work and serving people with dignity and considers himself privileged to serve on the board at Love, Inc.
Kristin Keizer, Accounting and Office Administrator
Kristin came to Donald Engineering with experience in bookkeeping and accounting in construction, manufacturing, and nonprofit organizations. She supports the Donald Engineering team by processing customer invoices, managing accounts payables, overseeing customer service, and welcoming guests to our office. Kristin enjoys her work in accounting as well as interacting with customers and vendors. In her spare time, Kristin enjoys watching her son race dirt bikes all over Michigan and Indiana and her daughter in the net for her college soccer team.
Rick Cousineau, Inside Sales & Customer Support
Rick comes to Donald Engineering with a background as a US Navy gas turbine systems mechanic, power plant operator, and field service technician. Growing up on a farm in Northern Michigan and having been in the maintenance field for most of his life, he understands the value of gathering the right resources and solutions in a timely manner for any problems that may arise. Rick values relationships with our customers and does his best to give them all the information needed to fix their problems as safely, quickly and cost-effectively as possible. When our customers succeed in operational safety, short lead times, operational reliability, and cost efficiency, everyone succeeds.
Rick Nelson, Machinist
With a wide range of skills and a rich history in the industry, Rick serves as an expert in machine build and repair. He has a knack for bringing mechanical dreams and visions into reality. Rick is committed to ensuring maximum quality and functionality for our customer’s projects. When he’s not at work, Rick likes to spend his spare time hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.
Tim Plowman, Controller
After working elsewhere as a controller, accountant, and financial analyst, Tim joined the team here at Donald Engineering as the controller. He oversees financials, payroll, and employee benefits, Tim supports the team here by providing accurate and timely reports and ensuring compliance and financial insurance regulations, allowing us to focus on providing effective solutions for our customers’ needs.
Travis Winter, Electrical Engineer

Travis holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of North Dakota, and is one of our two electrical applications engineers. He recently moved back to West Michigan after serving his country in the United States Air Force for over eight years. He is passionate about all aspects of engineering and plans to obtain a Mechanical Engineering degree from his alma mater within the next couple of years.

Working in technical sales here at Donald Engineering, Simeon has a passion for learning and finding new solutions for everyday problems. He enjoys discovering new and improved applications and applying them across industry lines. Simeon is committed to serving customers through direct communication and a willingness to get hands-on with their applications in order to better understand the customer’s needs. He’s an expert in analyzing schematics and finding the right fit for every application. Away from work, Simeon enjoys restoring old houses with his children as well as playing the drums and piano.
Tom Hulst, Technical Sales

Coming from a family of engineers, Tom grew up learning how equipment operated and was repaired by helping to maintain family recreational toys, building pole barns, deck, and the like. Tom is a Fluid Power Society certified Pneumatic Specialist with over 30 years of experience in fluid power and automation sales, service, and design. Here at Donald, he provides technical sales support for customers from Eastern Grand Rapids to the Lansing area. Tom enjoys using the wide variety of products and applications we feature to engineer solutions for complex problems that meet our customers’ needs and exceed their expectations. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time boating and traveling with his wife and two children.
